The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce has announced the organization’s Leadership Cherokee Alumni, from the class years 2012-2019, are spearheading a third annual community food drive.  The local Chamber member food pantries being supported through the “Leading by Feeding” initiative include:  MUST Cherokee, Never Alone and Papa’s Pantry at Encompass Ministries.

In 2019 collections totaled 8,399 donated items ranging from fruits and vegetables to diapers and paper products – up from 3,100 items during the first campaign in 2018. Results of the 2020 “Leading by Feeding” campaign will be announced at the Chamber’s Good Morning Cherokee Breakfast in November where the alumni year collecting the most food will be recognized for their efforts.  “The purpose of this campaign is to support food pantries in Cherokee County who work tirelessly to support the residents of our community who need an extra hand.  Leadership Cherokee participants learn through the nine-month community engagement initiative that leaders who collaborate can make a significant impact and there is no doubt that is what “Leading by Feeding” will do,” shared Pam Carnes, President & CEO of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.
