CANTON, GA — The 2025 Cherokee Career Expo will take place on October 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center. This annual event is designed to bring together jobseekers and employers in a powerful effort to strengthen the local workforce and reduce the need for long commutes out of the county.
Organized by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED), the Cherokee Career Expo serves as the county’s premier hiring event connecting residents with job opportunities close to home while providing businesses with access to the talent they need to grow.
This event underscores a countywide commitment to supporting local businesses and reducing the number of residents commuting outside of Cherokee for employment. Employers from a wide range of industries, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, technology, professional services, skilled trades, and education, will be represented.
“Local employers are actively seeking qualified talent, and our residents are looking for opportunities to work closer to home,” said Heath Tippens, President of COED. “The Career Expo aligns these priorities, ensuring businesses have access to the workforce they need while helping individuals find meaningful careers within the community.”
Highlights of the event include:
- Dozens of local employers hiring onsite across multiple industries.
- Free admission for jobseekers, with opportunities ranging from entry-level to executive.
- On-the-spot interviews and networking opportunities.
- Resources for career development, including resume assistance and expo prep through digital bootcamps.
- The Cherokee Career Expo is free and open to all jobseekers. Attendees are encouraged to bring copies of their resume and dress professionally.
COED is also partnering with Goodwill of North Georgia to help jobseekers prepare prior to the expo. Goodwill will host four Cherokee Career Expo Jobseeker Virtual Bootcamps, with two on September 23 and two on September 30. Bootcamp participants will learn how to navigate a career expo, develop an elevator pitch, receive resume assistance, and prepare for interviews.
In preparation, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is hosting Cherokee Work Readiness, a free event on Wednesday, October 1 at the Chamber office with morning and afternoon sessions available. Volunteers will be on site at the Chamber to help jobseekers enhance their résumé, practice interview skills and strengthen their job search strategies. For more information on this workshop, visit CherokeeChamber.com.
Partnering agencies will also provide in-person resume and interview assistance during the Cherokee Career Expo. Beginning at 1 p.m. on October 8, registered jobseekers will have the opportunity to receive live feedback at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center in Canton. Computers and printers will be available for updating and printing resumes before meeting with potential employers.
