June 19, 2026 – The Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration Office is recruiting community-minded citizens to serve as poll workers in upcoming elections.

Poll workers play a critical role in ensuring elections are conducted fairly, securely, and efficiently. They assist voters throughout the voting process and help create a positive Election Day experience for everyone who comes to the polls.

“Poll workers are the face of elections,” said Anne Dover, Director of Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration. “They are neighbors helping neighbors participate in one of our nation’s most important civic responsibilities. We simply could not conduct successful elections without them.”

Poll workers serve in a variety of positions, including greeting voters, checking in voters, assisting with voting equipment, and helping maintain an orderly voting environment. No prior election experience is required. Comprehensive training is provided, and poll workers are compensated for both training and Election Day service.

The Elections Office encourages retirees, veterans, college students, working professionals, and anyone interested in serving their community to apply.

To learn more about becoming a poll worker, interested individuals are invited to attend one of three Poll Worker Meet & Greet events at the Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration Office, located at 193 Lamar Haley Parkway in Canton:

Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Elections Office staff, learn about poll worker responsibilities, ask questions, and begin the application process.
