(July 11, 2025) – Cherokee County’s Senior Services director retired Friday after 10 years of public service in Cherokee County.

As the director of Senior Services, Tim Morris supervised staff, oversaw daily operations and was instrumental in the design of a 4,500-square-foot expansion to the existing senior center in Canton.

“We’ve doubled both in the number of staff and funding for Cherokee County Senior Services since the first day I arrived,” said Morris. “I’m very proud of all of our programs and staff but extremely proud of how far our Silver Roamers program for active adults took off from 80 members to over 350.”

Cherokee County Senior Services is responsible for programs that include Meals-On-Wheels, Respite Care, Homemaker Services, Caregiver Support, Congregate Program, Volunteer Transportation Services and more.

“It’s been an honor to work with a great group of people at Senior Services and with the county,” said Morris. “I’ve enjoy being part of the team that keeps our local seniors cared for and engaged. My only wish is that I found Cherokee Senior Services much earlier in my career as I have been blessed to do something I love and proved that you can be kind to others and be successful.”

Morris began his career with Cherokee County in 2015 after serving as the Senior Services Operations Coordinator in Gwinnett County for 23 years.

Senior Services Assistant Director Stacy Jones has been named as the director starting July 14. Jones brings with her more than 25 years of experience working various roles within the county’s senior services department.

“I’m honored to lead our team and continue serving Cherokee County’s seniors,” said Jones. “Our mission is to help them live independently and avoid nursing home placement. Mr. Morris built a strong foundation, and I look forward to building on that. After 25 years working across nearly every senior program and serving as Assistant Director, I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s ahead.”
