The Curious Savage, by John Patrick, directed by Jeannie and Wally Hinds

The Curious Savage: An entertaining and fanciful comedy. Ethel Savage is a wealthy widow who wishes to set up a fund to give away the ten million dollars her husband left her, to people who wish to follow their dreams, foolish though they appear. To make her come to her senses, her small-minded and selfish stepchildren place her in The Cloisters, a comfortable and tasteful sanitarium where she meets various men and women who just cannot adjust themselves to everyday life. In getting to know them, she realizes that she will find happiness with them and plans to stay instead of going out into a hard world where people seem ready to do anything for money. Mrs. Savage leads her selfish stepchildren on a merry chase as they try to get their hands on the money. Her friends conspire to get rid of her stepchildren and enable Mrs. Savage to carry out her plans. The audience is left with a feeling that the neglected virtues of kindness and affection have not been entirely lost in a world that seems at times motivated only by greed and dishonesty.
