WOODSTOCK, GA – The City of Woodstock is pleased to announce that Roland Castro is the sole finalist for the position of Chief of Police. Chief Castro’s first day with Woodstock Police Department will be December 8, 2025. City leadership launched a nationwide search with the help of Sumter Local Government Consulting to fill the position after Chief Robert Jones announced his retirement earlier this year.

Chief Castro brings over twenty-eight years of law enforcement experience to the role having served most recently as Deputy Chief of Police in Johns Creek. He has been with Johns Creek Police Department since 2008 serving in leadership roles in the Support Services Division, the Operations Division, the Office of Professional Standards, the Special Operations Division, the Criminal Investigations Division, and the Uniform Patrol Division. Prior to joining Johns Creek, Castro served with Alpharetta Police Department from 1997 to 2008 in roles including Criminal Investigations, Drug Enforcement, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and Traffic Enforcement.

“I am honored to serve as the new Chief of the Woodstock Police Department,” said Chief Roland Castro. “I look forward to working alongside the dedicated men and women of this department and strengthening our connection with the community through continued engagement, open communication, and responsive service.”

Chief Castro is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. He is also a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. Among the many law enforcement training certificates he has completed, Chief Castro holds six Georgia POST Certificates. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Chief Castro’s experience and leadership style make him an excellent fit for the Woodstock Police Department,” said City Manager Jeff Moon. “He has a strong record of service and a deep understanding of community-focused policing that aligns perfectly with Woodstock’s values.”

There will be a reception to Welcome Chief Castro to the City of Woodstock prior to the Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 6 p.m. at The Chambers at City Center (8534 Main Street).
