WOODSTOCK, GA (June 30, 2025) – The City of Woodstock will officially launch a new paid parking program in key areas of the downtown district starting Monday, July 7, 2025, as part of a strategic effort to enhance accessibility, support local businesses, and maintain the vitality of the city’s urban core.
The paid parking program will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a first hour free policy. Users must register their vehicle when parking within a paid parking zone to claim the first free hour. The next two hours will be charged at $2 per hour. These rates are structured to encourage turnover and improve parking availability for downtown visitors, diners, and shoppers.
Enforcement will be carried out using license plate recognition (LPR) technology to monitor overtime parking. In addition, the program includes the introduction of more 15-minute short-term spaces. ADA-accessible spaces will remain free to use but will be subject to a three-hour time limit to ensure accessibility for all.
“This program came about at the request of several downtown business owners and is about the smart management of our growing downtown,” said Brian Stockton, Economic and Downtown Development Director. “By encouraging turnover, we’re helping ensure that more people have the opportunity to enjoy the businesses and amenities that make Woodstock so special.”
Revenue generated from paid parking will first be allocated toward the ongoing maintenance and operations of the downtown parking system. Any surplus funds will be reinvested into parking related projects and enhancements to the downtown experience.
Clear signage will be installed throughout paid parking zones, and user-friendly mobile payment options will be available to streamline the experience for both residents and visitors.
Pivot Parking will manage the new system. Notably, 80% of the total public parking spaces in downtown will continue to be free of charge, including the 635 spaces in the recently opened City Center East Parking Deck.
