(MAY 19, 2026) — The 2026 Georgia Police and Fire Games, sponsored by Northside Hospital Cherokee, is just around the corner. While the games are open to active and retired public safety personnel, two events will be open to the public.

Additionally, the Cherokee County community is invited to cheer on Police and Fire Games competitors at any of the events. There is no charge for admission.

The Cornhole Tournament in downtown Ball Ground, set for Friday, June 12 at 5 p.m., and the Community 5K in Woodstock, set for Saturday, June 13 at 8 a.m., are both open to the community.

The Cornhole Tournament will feature singles and doubles teams. When registering, community members should register as a civilian. The cost is $45 for a singles entry and $90 for a doubles entry. Visit www.cherokeecountyga.gov/gpfg and click on Registration to register.

The Community 5K will culminate the weeklong 42nd Annual Georgia Police and Fire Games at Hobgood Park in Woodstock.  Registration costs $35, and community members should register as civilians. Visit https://raceroster.com/events/2026/115521/georgia-police-and-fire-games-2026 to sign up. On race day, participants will need to enter Hobgood Park from Towne Lake Parkway. The Bells Ferry Road entrance is closed due to construction.

The Georgia Police and Fire Games has been an annual event since 1984. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved in November hosting the games. Several county agencies including Communications, Cherokee Recreation and Parks, Cherokee Fire & Emergency Services, the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, as well as Destination Cherokee GA have partnered to plan and execute the 2026 games. The games would not be possible without the support of many sponsors including: Title Sponsor Northside Hospital Cherokee; Captain Sponsors Krause Family Ford & Hyundai of Kennesaw, CTEL, Legacy Commissary Services, and Paul Davis Restoration; Lieutenant Sponsor E.D. Bullard; Sergeant Sponsors Federal Signal, Kennesaw State University Criminal Justice, Hennessey Honda, Peak Printing, Allegro Business Products, MC Wraps & Signs; Supporter Sponsor, T&T Uniforms and Dana Safety Supply; and Honor Sponsors the Rotary Club of Towne Lake, The Gleichman Law Firm, the First Responder Games, and Hotworx.
