Woodstock, GA (December 2, 2024) – The City of Woodstock’s 28th annual Christmas Jubilee and Parade of Lights will take place on Sunday, December 8th from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Downtown Woodstock. The Grand Marshal of this year’s parade is Mickey Swims, owner of historic Dixie Speedway.

Since 1969, Dixie Speedway has been hosting stock car racing, monster trucks, and sprint car racing. The family-owned and operated business’ newest attraction, Magic of Lights, is a drive through holiday experience open nightly through January 4, 2025.

As owner of Dixie Speedway, Swims has received numerous awards including North Georgia Business Owner of the Year and Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Promoter of the Year. He has been inducted into the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, the National Dirt Racing Hall of Fame, and the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame. According to Mickey, “The greatest award is being able to work together with family in a community that I love.”

One hundred and twenty-five entries will participate in the parade that travels from Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road south along Main Street to Sam’s Club at Highway 92. The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile is participating in Woodstock’s Christmas parade for the first time in 2024.  Roads will close at 5:15 p.m. prior to the parade start at 5:30 p.m.

Following the parade, join Mayor Michael Caldwell and Santa Claus at the gazebo in the Park at City Center for the lighting of the city’s official Christmas tree. The duo will present the awards for the best parade floats before festival-goers line up to visit with Santa. Bring your letter for Santa to drop in the Santa Mail mailbox and be sure to include your address to receive a personalized letter back. Enjoy holiday music and festive foods, visit the kids craft area, decorate a sugar plum cupcake, and play carnival games.

The Christmas Jubilee and Parade of Lights is sponsored by CityVet, Harry Norman, and Bug Busters. The event is presented by the City of Woodstock and produced by Woodstock Parks and Recreation with help from Woodstock Public Works, Woodstock Police Department, and Woodstock Fire Department.
