Dr. Nokuthula Msimanga joins Medical Associates of North Georgia in Canton

Medical Associates of North Georgia is proud to announce its newest physician, Dr. Nokuthula Msimanga to their medical center at 470 Northside Cherokee Blvd. in Canton. Dr. Msimanga is the first gerontologist to join the Northside Hospital System, which Medical Associates of North Georgia is affiliated with.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Msimanga to our team as she provides an important layer of support to our growing community,” said Katie Pearson, Director of Operations at Northside Hospital Cherokee.

Dr. Msimanga is a board-certified and fellowship trained physician in family medicine and geriatrics. Her clinical interests include preventative care, acute and chronic disease management, women’s health and geriatrics.

“Just as pediatricians understand that children aren’t just small adults, geriatricians recognize that older adults have different physiology, and that the prevalence of certain syndromes increases with aging,” Pearson said.

Gerontology is simply the study of the aging process and of individuals as they evolve from middle age to elder adults.

“I enjoy taking care of my patients,” Dr. Msimanga said. “Helping them to understand the disease process and management, navigating health systems to improve patient care, and helping them achieve positive health goals lets me know that I am getting my job done.”

She specializes in primary care with a focus on adults and geriatric patients. She enjoys helping patients stay healthy, keeping them informed and educated on their health, and working with them to optimize their health.

“Growing up, I witnessed patients who did not have access to care suffer from unfortunate outcomes. This instilled my passion and desire to go into medicine to help make a difference,” she said.

She has been practicing medicine for over 10 years, and prior to joining Medical Associates of North Georgia, she practiced Family Medicine and Geriatrics in the Greater Atlanta area.

“Trained to consider the needs and complexities of mature patients, Northside is excited to provide another dimension in our quest for community wellness through Dr. Msimanga,” Pearson said. The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce reports that Cherokee County’s population that is over the age of 65 will increase from 12 to 21 percent by the year 2020.

Dr. Msimanga is now accepting new patients, welcomes same day appointments for sick visits and offers a convenient location for the Greater Atlanta and North Georgia communities.

Medical Associates of North Georgia is dedicated to providing quality medical care to the individuals and families of the metro Atlanta and north Georgia communities. The practice provides adult care, annual sports and school physicals, total family care, immunizations, sick and well visits and EKG’s and lab testing.
