CANTON, GA – A new temporary exhibit celebrating the legacy of Cherokee High School will open March 17 at the Cherokee County History Center.

Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior: Cherokee High School Then, Now, and Next marks the school’s 70th anniversary and explores the memories, milestones, and traditions that have shaped generations of students, teachers, and families. The exhibit will remain on display through October.

The exhibit arrives during a historic year for Cherokee High School. The 2025–2026 school year will be the final year students attend classes in the current building, which opened in 1956. When the 2026–2027 school year begins, Cherokee High School will open at a new location.

Through photographs and artifacts, the exhibit highlights the important role Cherokee High School has played in the life of the community for seven decades.

“Cherokee High School has been a cornerstone of the community for generations,” said Stefanie Joyner, History Cherokee Executive Director. “As the school prepares to move to a new campus, this exhibit offers a chance for alumni and community members to reflect on the memories and traditions that define Warrior pride.”

The exhibit was guest curated by Betsy Teasley Trope.

History Cherokee members are invited to an Exhibit Preview and Reception on Monday, March 16, to preview the exhibit before it opens to the public. To become a History Cherokee member, visit historycherokee.org/membership. Additionally, to celebrate the exhibit, History Cherokee will host History Uncorked: Warrior Pride on March 26 from 5–7 p.m. Guests ages 21 and over are invited to visit the museum, show their Warrior pride, and enjoy a complimentary glass of beer or wine with their admission.
