As Cherokee County is a certified “Entrepreneur Friendly Community”, the Chamber – through collaboration with the Cherokee Office of Economic Development – fosters entrepreneurship through a variety of initiatives.

DRUGS
DON’T WORK

The Drugs Don’t Work program provides the necessary tools to empower business owners to obtain a drug free workplace certification and qualify for the 7.5% discount workers’ compensation premiums.

EXCELLENCE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD

The Excellence in Customers Service Award recognition is designed to emphasize the importance of customer service, and the winner should consistently demonstrate excellence in service and/or hospitality.

FAMILY-OWNED
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

The Family-Owned Business of the Year recognition is designed to emphasize the importance of family-owned businesses to Cherokee County’s economy. Community support within Cherokee County through involvement with community organizations and events is appreciated.

FIRST CITIZEN
OF CHEROKEE COUNTY

The title of First Citizen of Cherokee County is bestowed upon a resident of Cherokee County who has resided in the county for a minimum of five years and has shown significant meritorious service to his/her community through family, civic and/or religious involvement.

GOING
GREEN

The Chamber’s Going Green initiative encourages the community to implement green practices that conserve community resources while helping businesses thrive.  One focus of the initiative is the annual Earth Day Recycling Event.

LEADERSHIP
CHEROKEE

As strong leadership is a prime ingredient in the continuing development of any community, the Chamber’s Leadership Cherokee program educates existing and emerging leaders.  Founded in 1987, Leadership Cherokee includes over 690 Alumni.

NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR

The Non-Profit of the Year recognition is designed to emphasize the importance of non-profit organizations to Cherokee County’s quality of life.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION

The Chamber’s Partners In Education program provides support to students in Cherokee County by allowing businesses to partner with local schools to enhance the educational opportunities of students.

REMOTE READER

The Remote Reader program promotes literacy and the fun of reading by encouraging community volunteers to read/record a classic children’s book to be posted to the Chamber’s YouTube channel.

SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

The Small Business of the Year recognition is designed to emphasize the importance of small business to Cherokee County’s economy.

TEEN LEADERSHIP CHEROKEE

The Teen Leadership Cherokee program helps prepares Cherokee County 10th grade participants to lead, engage, aspire, and drive themselves so that they may confidently become our community’s next generation of leaders.

The Top 10 in 10 ‘Young Professionals to Watch’ initiative is designed to cultivate and showcase exceptional Cherokee County young professionals.
