(JUNE 23, 2025) — The Cherokee County Board of Elections has certified the June 17, 2025, PSC (Public Service Commissioner) Special Primary Election on Monday, June 23, 2025.

The Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration office is preparing for the PSC Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election on July 15, 2025. The following are details of the PSC Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election that eligible voters and citizens need to know.

Georgia Election Code 21-2-270: “(3) Fewer than 1 percent of the county’s registered voters voted at the primary of the political party by which a candidate or candidates are to be nominated at the run-off primary.(b) In any case to which this Code section applies, only one polling place shall be required to be open in the county at the run-off primary; and such polling place shall be at the polling place for the precinct wherein the county courthouse is located. Any voter who is otherwise eligible to vote in such run-off primary shall be entitled to vote in said run-off primary at said single polling place.”

In layman’s terms, because there was less than one percent (1%) turnout of voters who chose a Democrat ballot for the June 17 PSC Special Primary Election, the county elections office will open one (1) polling location in the precinct where the county courthouse is located for the PSC Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election on July 15.

PSC Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election – July 15, 2025 (7:00 am to 7:00 pm):

Registration Deadline Date for this election: May 19, 2025

Absentee Ballot Application Deadline Date: July 7, 2025

Early/Advance Voting Dates: July 7 to July 11, 2025 (8:30 am to 5:00 pm)

Early/Advance Voting Locations (2): Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration office (193 Lamar Haley Parkway, Canton) AND South Cherokee Annex Recreation Center – Drop box available (7545 Main St., Bldg. 200, Woodstock)

Election Day Polling Location: Canton City Hall (110 Academy Street, Canton)

IMPORTANT: An eligible voter who will be able to cast a vote in the PSC Democratic Special Primary Runoff Election (July 15, 2025) is one who:

  • EITHER – Did not vote in the PSC Special Primary Election (June 17, 2025)
  • OR – Cast a Democratic ballot for the PSC Special Primary Election (June 17, 2025)
  • NOTE: There is no Republican ballot for the July 17, 2025, election
