(FEB. 18, 2026) – Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services and the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office raised over $10,000 for local non-profits at the 20th annual Guns and Hoses 5K Run/Walk.
The race was held at Hobgood Park on Feb. 14 and drew 875 participants. The two agencies competed for race registrations. The Hoses team had 435 registrations while the Guns team had 440 registrations, making the Guns team this year’s winner.
“For 20 years, this race has showcased the very best of our friendly rivalry with our friends on the fire side,” said Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds. “While we’re proud the Guns brought home the win this year, especially with a record turnout, the real victory is what we accomplished together for this community.”
The purpose of the race is to raise money for charity causes selected by both groups.
The Hoses team raised $5,220 for The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, a non-profit organization serving young men in the state foster care system, and the Guns team raised $5,280 for The Frank Reynolds Charities, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to raise funds through events and community initiatives that help meet the needs of individuals in Cherokee County and support other charitable organizations serving the community.
“This event gives our fire department a meaningful opportunity to support Goshen Valley while strengthening the camaraderie we share with our partners at the Sheriff’s Office,” said Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services Chief Eddie Robinson. “While we’re yielding the trophy to the Guns team this year, we’re proud to stand alongside them in serving our community every day. We look forward to continuing this tradition and coming back strong next year.”
