(AUG. 21, 2026) — Cherokee County residents are invited to attend a community workshop on Sept. 16 as part of the county’s ongoing “ReCode Cherokee” initiative to create a Unified Development Code.
The workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Etowah Room at the Northside Cherokee Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Pkwy., Canton.
The workshop will feature a short presentation to provide background on the Unified Development Code project. The team will also address specific topics that have been highlighted in the infancy stages of the public input. The Sept. 16 event will focus on transportation and transportation standards in the development code. Specific transportation projects, roads or intersections will not be discussed.
There also will be an open, guided discussion period to solicit feedback from those in attendance.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners engaged Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. to develop the Unified Development Code as part of the ReCode Cherokee initiative. The project aims to modernize and combine Cherokee County’s development regulations and zoning ordinances into one streamlined document that is easier to use and aligned with the community’s vision for the future.
