(OCT. 1, 2024) — The public will have multiple opportunities to provide feedback on the Greenways and Trails Master Plan development in the second round of public input meetings.
Last November, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners engaged Gresham Smith for professional services to create the first-ever countywide Greenways & Trails Master Plan. The goal of the plan is to establish an intentional and cohesive approach to identifying potential locations for future trails, prioritizing trail connections and allocating funding for new projects with the cities and adjacent counties to develop the network.
Two in-person public input sessions, as well as a virtual option, were held in May. An online survey and interactive map activity were available throughout May and June.
The second round of public input will focus on the first draft of the proposed trail network.
“This is a great opportunity for members of the public to see how the first round of input sculpted the draft plan,” said Community Services Agency Director Bryan Reynolds. “You’ll be asked to review the draft trail network and let us know what you like and what you don’t like so we can use that information as development of the plan evolves.”
The public will have the opportunity to talk with consultants, planners and Recreation and Parks staff on five occasions during the month of October.
