(OCT. 9, 2024) — Cherokee County has surpassed 200,000 active registered voters, which now requires a second ballot drop box.
State law requires one ballot drop box per 100,000 active registered voters, and a new State Election Board (SEB) rule mandates that ballot drop boxes be monitored by video.
The second ballot drop box location will be placed at the Oak Grove Fire Station Community Center, 100 Ridge Mill Court, Acworth.
Last month, Cherokee County Office of Elections and Voter Registration announced the relocation of the drop box previously available at the South Annex in Woodstock to the Elections Office, located at 193 Lamar Haley Pkwy., Canton, due to the new SEB rule.
Both drop boxes will only be available during advance voting period Oct. 15-Nov. 1.
Specific dates and times are:
Tuesday, Oct. 15 to Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 21 through Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 28 through Friday, Nov. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday voting will be available at the Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration Office only on Oct. 20, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters can always cast their ballot at their assigned precincts on Election Day, Nov. 5, from 7 a.m. to. 7 p.m. To check voter registration status and precinct, visit the My Voter Page on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website, mvp.sos.ga.gov.
