(DEC. 17, 2025) — Cherokee County residents have a new way to receive emergency notifications from Cherokee County. The County partnered with Motorola Rave, which will automatically send National Weather Service alerts to registered users.

Residents can sign up for Motorola Rave alerts by visiting www.cherokeega-ema.org and clicking on the Rave button. Text to subscribe also is available for text notifications only. Simply text CHEROKEEEMA to 226787. Text messaging and data rates may apply. Text messages are sent on an as-needed basis.

“Rave Alert offers extensive options for emergency alerts to our residents,” said EMA Director Daniel Westbrook. “The system also gives us capabilities for non-emergent alerts to those who subscribed. We plan to launch that functionality in 2026.”

The service can be used for weather alerts, traffic alerts, and hazardous situations that require evacuations.

Residents who used Cherokee County’s previous mass notification system will need to create a new account in Rave Alert. Those users should expect an opt-in email from Rave Alert later this week, but everyone must create a new account to be able to receive alerts. On the account setup, residents should only fill out the required information, which includes e-mail address, phone number, and address. The address allows the polygon technology to alert specific areas in times of severe weather warnings.
