(May 23, 2025) – A special election for the vacant District 1 Board of Commissioners seat has been set.
The Cherokee County Board of Elections called for the special election to be held Aug. 26, 2025. A legal ad officially announcing the special election will appear in the Cherokee Tribune next week.
The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved, 3-0, a resolution during a special called meeting May 23 to set the qualifying fee at $900. Qualifying fees are paid to the candidate’s political party.
Qualifying will be held June 2-3, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 4, from 9 a.m. to noon, at 193 Lamar Haley Pkwy., Canton.
