Teachers Receive Free Admission to the Cherokee County History Center in July

History Cherokee is celebrating teachers this summer! Throughout July Cherokee County educators can receive free admission to the Cherokee County History Center for themselves and discounted admission for their guests just by showing their valid educator ID at the admission desk. Upon check-in, educators will receive information on the resources offered by the History Center that can supplement classroom learning as well as some special sample student activities they can experience firsthand during their visit.

All Cherokee County educators are also invited to a special Open House at the History Center on Thursday, July 13 from 12 to 2 p.m. During this time, educators will join Harvee White, History Cherokee education manager, and Jennifer Jones, Cherokee County School District administrator, for a guided tour and facilitated discussion on how History Cherokee’s programs and exhibits align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity to educators. The Cherokee County History Center is a great resource for our local teachers, whether as a school field trip or a place to do research on local history,” said White. “We hope to use this opportunity to help demonstrate how History Cherokee is here to support them and partner with them for the benefit of the children in Cherokee County.”

Registration is highly recommended for the July 13 Open House. Teachers can register at historycherokee.org/events.

Educators can also contact White at hwhite@historycherokee.org for more information on planning field trips and other educational resources available to them at the History Center.
