WOODSTOCK, GA (December 3, 2025) – Mayor Michael Caldwell and other City leaders participated in an event in Woodstock Wednesday morning as Wing and Walmart launched ultra-fast drone delivery in Metro Atlanta.
Beginning December 3, the service will be available from six Walmart stores across Metro Atlanta including the Walmart Supercenter on GA-92. Walmart products eligible for drone delivery include grocery items, last-minute gifts, household goods, and over-the-counter medicine.
“Innovation has always been at home in Woodstock, and today’s inaugural flight of Walmart and Wing’s drone delivery service puts our city at the center of what’s next. This marks metro Atlanta’s first drone delivery service and brings our residents an incredible new convenience, turning a frustrating drive for ingredients into a five-minute delivery to our front door. The future of everyday deliveries is here, starting in Woodstock today,” said Mayor Michael Caldwell.
The Metro Atlanta launch represents the first new major metro in Wing’s drone delivery expansion with Walmart that will include five new metros and serve 100 additional Walmart stores across the U.S. by 2026. Offering drone delivery to Atlanta residents will build upon Wing and Walmart’s success in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex where Wing successfully delivers thousands of orders to Walmart customers’ homes weekly.
“Atlanta is a powerhouse in aviation, and we’re bringing the same spirit of speed and efficiency to thousands of Walmart customers across the Metro just in time for the busiest season of the year,” said Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer at Wing. “This launch is a critical next step in our significant expansion, turning drone delivery from novelty to norm as residents make drone delivery part of their everyday shopping.”
Customers simply order through the Wing app and, at checkout, confirm the precise delivery location on their property. Once loaded onto one of Wing’s highly automated drones, the order cruises safely at approximately 60 mph and about 150 feet off the ground, with five minutes or less average flight times. Upon arrival, the drone gently lowers the package to the ground with no assistance needed.
